Where did all the good dancing go?

Posted on

What do you do when you can’t dance?

It’s the worst question ever asked, but as a senior in college with limited financial means, sometimes it’s a possibility.  Life gets busy, homework gets out of hand, job applications pile up and two weeks at the part-time job on campus barely pays for one exchange.

So what do you do when you can’t travel?  How do you get your dance fix? WHAT DO YOU DO TO KEEP FROM GOING CRAZY?! (Sorry, a bit too long without dancing…*twitch*)

Any and all suggestions are welcome.  If you don’t help soon, I’m going to start experiencing withdraw symptoms.

  1. I either invite a friend over or go to a friend’s place and dance 🙂 it helps take the edge off.

  2. As someone living in a country with nary a sign of swing dancing, I have found it simple enough to AIYAIYAIYAIYAI-I JUST GO CRAZY. And count the days until I can dance again, and fantasize about whom I’d like to dance with, and to what songs, and the next possible opportunity, and look at swing/lindy blogs and tumblers, listen to music, and try to scrounge up enough internet to watch youtube videos of people doing everything that I WANT TO DO, and basically search for everything that is related, which of course can never equal the act itself. I’m sure this isn’t helpful, but alas, a bit of insanity is a side effect of swing-withdrawl. But, here’s a positive note, though- by writing this blog, you help me to last another day nearer to my next chance to dance. 🙂 Best of luck with senior yearness!
